MSA British Autotest Championship

Round 1: Jon Mackenzie Autotests, 15 March

Reigning champion Richard Pinkney took a convincing win at the season-opening Jon Mackenzie Autotests in his bid to win a third successive MSA British title.

Pinkney – driving his Caterham 7 – dominated the event from the first test and opened up a 15-second lead over the Mini of David Mosey by the halfway point. Meanwhile Paul Fobister recovered from a couple of early penalties to move into third.

Fobister pushed hard on the final tests to close the gap but had to settle for third overall and the Class D win. Dave Evans was a solid fourth in the Blitz Special, while Keith Walton in the KW7 again showed improvement, running in the top three on the opening run of tests before finishing a fine fifth.

Results1 Richard Pinkney (Caterham 7) 798.02 David Mosey (Mini 1380) 847.13 Paul Fobister (Haigh Special) 850.7
