James Pull believes he is in great shape as he gears up for the MSA Formula season opener at Brands Hatch.
The 15-year-old has been in fine form during testing and is confident he can make a real impression for current Formula Ford champions JTR when the new series gets underway on April 4.
And after setting himself the goals of top rookie spot and some podiums, he now can’t wait to get going.
The ADD Motorsports driver said: “I’m really excited. Before I tested I was looking to the season as being more about learning and progressing. But I’m on the pace and I’ve been in the Top 5 during testing, so I believe I can be a threat.
“I’ve still got a lot to learn and I’m not as experienced as some, but I feel really confident going into the start of the season.”
The new MSA Formula – certified by FIA and powered by Ford EcoBoost - replaces British Formula Ford on the BTCC support bill and will be contested over 30 races across 10 meetings.
It is also open to 15-year-old drivers, attracting the cream of the world’s young motor racing talent for the inaugural season.
James, originally from Singapore but currently based in Herts, has been putting in extra simulator work and training sessions for his leg strength in pre-season.
And thanks to the work and expertise of both JTR and ADD Motorsports, he is now counting down the days until the first race of the season with real optimism.
He added: “It’s been great to learn from Nick Tandy and the team and to work with ADD.
“There are some really good drivers competing in the series, but I am aiming to be up there with them.
“We’re aiming for podiums and the top rookie spot and anything else will be a huge bonus.”
