Gibson to Return to Retro Rallycross Challenge at Lydden Hill

Former European Rallycross Championship competitor Rob Gibson will return to the Retro Rallycross Challenge for round two at Lydden Hill this weekend [April 6].

Gibson was forced to miss round one of the series at Croft following a delay receiving engine components for his iconic MG Metro 6R4, and will be hoping for better luck at Lydden Hill than last season when he succumbed to engine failure. Gibson will be joined by the Super Retro division by the Mazda 323 of Danny Greaves, Paul Smith's Volkswagen Polo and Paul Haigh, competing in his Vauxhall Nova for the first time in 2015.

James Harrold heads the entry list in the Retro Rallycross division, following his victory at round one in Yorkshire. Harrold thoroughly deserved the success after a number of niggling problems hampered him throughout the 2014 season, but the Norwich driver will have his work cut out on Easter Monday to claim his second win of the year, as 2014 John Button Memorial Trophy winner Ray Morgan looks to make up ground in the points race at his local event, driving his Ford Escort. Green and White Mini Spares driver Lance Foster will be hoping to cause an upset as ever, while Stuart Bowes will be pushing hard in his second event on his return to the sport in a similar car to Foster's. Ian Biagi's round trip for the Lydden Hill event will exceed 800 miles, so the Scotsman will certainly be hoping to take some silverware with him on the trip back to Dumfries in Scotland.

The Lydden Hill event can be watched live online via Livestream, with the review programmes being aired on British Eurosport and Premier Sports following the event – listings and information will be published on the MSA British Rallycross Championship website, here.
