Nearly fifty laps completed by the Catalan driver to carry out race simulations at the wheel of the Dallara GP2/11 fielded by MP Motorsport. Canamasas was congratulated by the Dutch outfit on a job very well done over three days and under all conditions.
Sergio Canamasas has completed his third productive day of GP2 Series testing at Bahrain International Circuit, and focusing on long runs, not searching for fast times, with the MP Motorsport´s Dallara. In the morning, after 27 laps, Canamasas clocked in a fast time of 1:41.101, which was only a second off pace. In the afternoon Canamasas carried out an almost identical testing programme with a best time of 1:45.842 after 22 laps.
“We had planned to focus on race runs today, mainly in the afternoon. And it has provided valuable data for long runs. Despite afternoon´s session was red-flagged by the halfway point, which slightly disrupted our plan, we were able to continue working after that”, Canamasas explains, underlining that “MP Motorsport has congratulated me because my race pace was pretty competitive in comparison with last year´s race. It should not be extrapolated as weather and tracks conditions aren´t completely identical but it is a good indication of the work done”.
Canamasas concluded GP2 official preseason testing having worked with two different teams: Hilmer Motorsport, at Yas Marina Circuit, and MP Motorsport, in Sakhir. During both test sessions Canamasas has made his mark over those six days.
