Volkswagen Racing Cup UKKick-off in Oulton Park: Sutton twice, McMillan once
Start-finish victory for David Sutton in Oulton Park (GB) – on Easter Sunday the Brit dominated the first race of the Volkswagen Racing Cup UK in his Volkswagen Scirocco. After a starting collision followed and a race interruption, race 1 was shortened to 15 minutes. Not enough time for Aaron Mason (GB) to catch up. The 2013 Champion started from the sixth position, got himself into second and crossed the finish line just 2.290 seconds adrift of Sutton. Howard Fuller (GB) in his Team HARD Golf finished third. In the second race Joe McMillan (GB) celebrated his maiden Volkswagen Racing Cup victory. Starting in reversed order, Sutton entered the race from the sixth starting position. After just one round, he wound up second but was unable to score against McMillan. Like in the first race, Fuller finished third. Starting the third race from pole position, Sutton got another victory, this time ahead of Fuller and Lucas Orrock (GB).
Volkswagen Fun Cup UKNo fuel? No problem! Primrose/Roche win the season opener
JPR Isla Motorsport was the team to beat at the Volkswagen Fun Cup Great UK in Silverstone (GB). On Saturday, Neil Primrose (GB), who is also the drummer for the rock band „Travis“, and Tom Roche (GB) won the 4 Hours Race 37.665 seconds ahead of Guy Wenham/Zoe Wenham /Stephen Johansen (GB/GB/GB, Geometric). Team Race Logic with Julian Thomas/Nigel Greensall/Jon Tomlinson (GB/GB/GB) finished third. Still, Primrose/Roche had to work hard for the victory: entering the race from the ninth starting position, the British duo worked its way up to take the lead. After three hours, it lead by one lap when it ran out of fuel. However, Roche made his way into the pits, thus defending his lead. Then Primrose got behind the wheel to secure victory. Round 2 of the Volkswagen Fun Cup UK kicks off in Snetterton (GB) on 20 May.
Volkswagen Fun Cup BelgiumDouble victory for Allure Team 2 in Spa-Francorchamps
Cédric Bollen/Guillaume Mondron/Frédéric Caprasse (B/B/B) of Allure Team 2 celebrated a double victory in Spa-Francorchamps (B) to kick off the 2015 Volkswagen Fun Cup Belgium season by winning races 1 and 2. On Saturday and in spite of rain, the three Belgians won by 51.883 seconds ahead of their team-mates of Allure Team 1 (Bouvy/Donniacuo/Radet/Piron). The sun was out on Sunday while Bollen/Mondron/Caprasse were not in the mood of handing out any Easter presents as they convincingly cruised to victory by finishing +1,23.167 minutes ahead of Team Acome Racing (Nava/Charlier). 2014 Champions Philippe Crosset, Eric Gressens, Sébastien Jacquemin (B/B/B) of Team Colson Racing were hampered by gear box problems and could not finish race 1. They finished race 2 seventh. The next round of the Volkswagen Fun Cup Belgium will be held in Dijon (F) 01-03 May in Dijon (F).
