Top single-seater team Manor MP Motorsport gets its busy 2015 motor racing season underway this weekend, 11th/12th April, at Monza in Italy with an exciting three-car entry for the first two rounds of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the championship is set to enjoy a fantastic grid of 30 cars for the season curtain-raiser with Dennis Olsen, Lasse Sorensen and Ignazio D’Agosto aiming to make a strong impression for the Anglo-Dutch team.
Norwegian racer Olsen, the 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Vice-Champion, will go into the Monza double-header as one of the undoubted favourites, having enjoyed a superb season last year and having also taken a top three championship finish in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in 2013.
The 18-year-old is joined by Formula Renault 2.0 newcomer, and reigning French F4 Champion, Lasse Sorensen – younger brother of GP2 Series race winner Marco. For the Dane, also 18-years-old, this weekend will mark his maiden outing in Formula Renault and there are realistically high hopes of a strong start to 2015 for the category rookie.
Italian 20-year-old D’Agosto completes the line-up for Monza and he brings three seasons of experience to the team. After a successful karting career, D’Agosto debuted in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in 2012 and has since gone on to become a race winner in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.
Looking ahead to the first event of the seven race meeting NEC season, Manor MP Motorsport’s Sander Dorsman said: “We’re all really excited to be back racing after a long winter, and it’s great to begin the year at such a fantastic track as Monza. We’re very happy to welcome Ignazio to the team alongside Dennis and Lasse and hoping for a great start to our 2015 campaign.”
Following free practice at Monza today, Friday, 10th April, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC qualifying will get underway at 10.15 (local time) on Saturday, 11th April, with round one following at 14.05 (local time). Round two will begin at 10.30 (local time) on Sunday, 12th April.
