When Canamasas was battling for 10th with Jordan King, both drivers collided which ended up with the Spaniard retiring as it damaged his car´s front wing. Now the driver already has in mind his upcoming GP2 event at home, Barcelona, and in front of his crowd. Sunday brought a premature end to Sergio Canamasas during GP2 Sprint race, held at Bahrain International Circuit, as the pilot of MP Motorsport was forced to retire after four laps. Canamasas started fourteenth on the grid and managed to pass no less than four cars on lap one, some of them on the outside, despite his car was suffering from oversteer. Shortly after there was an interesting battle with Marlon Stöckinger, with Canamasas being at a disadvantage because Philippines´ driver could use DRS system. Shortly after, on lap four, MP Motorsport driver was fighting with Jordan King, with who already had a heart stopping duel yesterday, but a crash involving both drivers forced Canamasas to retire.“I had already had some problems battling with King yesterday, and today I wasn´t able to avoid colliding with him. Unfortunately my race was over. I was almost fighting for points once again and with our race pace I don´t think this goal was out of reach”, Canamasas explains, adding “it certainly was a dream start for me but I already explained this was a sort of preseason testing for Barcelona and Monaco. Our work was much better that the results we got here. But I´m looking forward to competing in Barcelona, and there I´m eying a good result at home event. Putting more experience under my belt with this team, I know we will be able to achieve a good result”.Round two at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya takes place on 8-10 May.
