The Avon Tyres British GT Championship comes to the heart of Corby this Saturday (April 25) when a selection of its sportscars and those from across its support series will congregate in the Northamptonshire town’s centre.Rockingham’s high-speed banking plays host to round three just a week later, making this the ideal opportunity for fans old and new to sample just a small taste of what’s to come on May 2/3.Local residents are encouraged to drop by Corby’s bustling pedestrianised Corporation Street this Saturday where several of the championship’s sportscars, BRDC Formula 4 single-seaters and machinery from the additional support bill will be on show between 09:00 and 17:00. The Avon Tyres race transporter and Lotus Evora Safety Car is set to provide a striking backdrop, while a DJ set will add to the party atmosphere.Additional bonuses include a limited number of free tickets for the following weekend’s British GT round plus Avon Tyres and Sunoco giveaways. What’s more, anyone not lucky enough to win free tickets can purchase them at a special discounted rate, with a third off for all those who pick up a flyer on the day.Championship Manager Benjamin Franassovici sees the event as a way of better engaging with the public at a time when the series continues to grow in stature.“This is a fantastic opportunity for existing fans and curious residents to come and see something a little different in Corby,” he said. “It’s not every day that racing cars invade your town centre!
