MML Sports continue with winning ways in Africa to take series leads

The UK-based motorsport and automotive specialist MML Sports was celebrating this weekend, following a win and a second place in rallies on two continents. Jaspreeth Chatthe won the FIA African Rally Championship section of the SASOL Rally in South Africa while Jamie Anderson finished second overall on the Somerset Stages in the UK.Having recently won the Safari Rally which formed part of the Kenyan national Rally Championship, MML Sports had drafted-in former British Rally Champion Mark Higgins to work with Chatthe to help develop his experience. They had also put him in contact with hugely experienced co-driver Craig Thorley to help him re-develop and refine his pace note system to ensure that Team Kibos would enjoy the best chance of success. The SASOL Rally was the first event for Chatthe with Thorley co-driving and while he struggled to settle in to the new pace note system at the beginning of the event, it became more and more natural as the rally went on, to the point where by the end of the event, he and Thorley had claimed the win on their maiden rally together.Thorley will now continue to co-drive for Chatthe for both the ARC and the KnRC Team Kibos programs. As a result of this weekend's result, Team Kibos now leads the Kenyan series and holds the joint lead in the African. In the UK, Jamie Anderson was contesting the Somerset Stages Rally, the third round of the 2015 BTRDA series, at the wheel of his ex-works, Mitsubishi Lancer WRC05.His one-day event began inauspiciously, with a spin and a stall on the first stage, costing him more than 30 seconds and dropping him well down the order. However, for the remainder of the day, he was a man on a charge and by the time he and co-driver Jon Scott reached the finish ramp on the sea-front in Minehead, had notched-up three joint stage wins and seven second-fastest times to finish the event second overall.Commenting, MML Sports Managing Director John Easton said; "It's been a really good weekend for us. Jassi did very well to win the ARC category of the SASOL Rally and Jamie demonstrated what he can do with the Lancer WRC in the UK."We've been helping Team Kibos quite a lot to make sure that Jassi can reach his full potential and the training he did with Mark [Higgins] seems to have worked really well. On top of that, he had to adapt to a new system of pace notes but again, while this was tricky to begin with, I think he can see the benefits in it now and his speed and ultimately, the win on the event shows that."The fact that Team Kibos now leads the Kenyan national Rally Championship and jointly leads the FIA African Rally Championship is a clear demonstration that they are moving forward constantly."It was also really good to see Jamie get the kind of result we know he should be getting. I think without the spin on the first stage he would potentially have been in contention for the win. I know he feels he made a wrong tyre choice as well so hopefully, we'll see him challenging for wins later this year."
