(SPEEDWAY 1 – WEDNESDAY PREVIEW)

POOLE skipper Maciej Janowski has been ruled out of the reigning Elite League champions’ home clash with Belle Vue on Wednesday.Janowski has received bad news over his ongoing knee injury, where he has suffered two broken bones, meaning he will miss at least the Pirates’ next two fixtures.Promoter Matt Ford has again booked Richard Lawson to deputise against the Aces, who notched an impressive home win over King’s Lynn in Monday’s televised fixture.Ford said: “This is bad news for both ourselves as a club and for Magic himself. He was really looking forward to returning for us but needed to understand why his knee was still giving him so much pain. So he went for a further diagnosis and the verdict was the double break. “It is clear that we are going to miss him although he has advised me that he will continue to review the situation.”Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “We need to carry this positive vibe away with us to Poole on Wednesday because I see no reason why we can’t go one better than we did at Brandon last week and pick up a win at Wimborne Road.“We’ve openly discussed the need for us to pull our socks up outside of Manchester but with the way the boys have applied themselves lately I think we can give the Pirates a good run.”Meanwhile King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon is calling for an all-round effort from his side against league leaders Coventry at the Adrian Flux Arena.Lyon’s men have been inconsistent so far in 2015, especially away from home, and they take on a Bees side who have already scored 13 points in four matches on the road.Lyon said: “The quality in the 1-7 is there, but it needs to be firing on all cylinders to make it work and that is the focus of attention right now.”Coventry skipper Chris Harris said: “King’s Lynn are really strong at home, but we’re confident. We’ve got a good side ourselves.“Even though we lost at Wolverhampton Monday we’re still high on spirit and we’re going to go there full of confidence that we can get something.”In the National League, Birmingham are looking to make it two out of two when they host rivals Stoke at Perry Barr.Adam Ellis returns to the No.1 position for the Brummies, who continue to operate the rider-replacement facility for the injured Sam Chapman.Brummies boss Graham Drury said: “We're switching the order around a little. I don't think No.3 is the ideal place for R/R so I'm moving it to No.4 this week. I feel that makes us a little bit stronger by me being able to decide who goes in Heat 14 which is the penultimate race of the meeting.“It’s a local derby for us and it’s going to be key to get the crowd on our side and to get them right behind the boys.”Stoke manager Malcolm Vasey said: “We are quietly confident that we are able to get some league points from the meeting. “The team have great belief in themselves and will be doing their utmost to come away with a win to get some points onto the board and please the many supporters that are heading South down the M6.”

(SPEEDWAY 2)

EASTBOURNE captain David Mason has been ruled out of the club’s Bank Holiday schedule as he requires hospital tests.Mason has been instructed by his doctor not to ride in the Eagles’ home clash with Stoke on Sunday or in their trip to Rye House on Monday afternoon.Marc Owen is to take over as skipper in Mason’s absence whilst new team boss Glenn Martin is now available to take up his role, and Dan Greenwood will guest for Mason at Rye House.Director Connor Dugard said: “Dan has already been a brilliant guest for us this season. As soon as I knew David was unavailable I was on the phone to Dan. He’s a good lad and is currently on fire.”

(SPEEDWAY 3)

FORMER Scunthorpe captain Wayne Carter will ride for the Halifax Dukes in the second half of a double-header at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday.Carter, now 44, was a leading light for the Scorpions in their very first season at the venue in 2005, before injury forced his retirement during 2006. But he has remained an integral part of the club as its training officer.Scunthorpe Stags boss Richard Hollingsworth said: “It’ll be great to see Wayne back in a competitive meeting. He comes from Halifax, so he was the natural choice to spearhead the Dukes’ line-up, alongside Max Clegg.“Wayne was the first-ever captain of the Scorpions at this particular track, and he was a near 10.00 man for us in 2005. If anything his contribution behind the scenes has been even greater. Sometimes I think that maybe not enough is said of the great work he does at this club.”(FIXTURES)
