Strakka Racing all set for Spa Six Hours

Team aims for strong points haul in Belgium towards LMP2 championship bid

Dry conditions at Spa Friday saw Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis record an average qualifying time of 2:11.655, to line up eighth in the P2 class for Sunday's World Endurance Championship race. After topping both wet practice sessions on Friday, the drier conditions of Saturday saw Strakka Racing improve each session to close the gap to the class leader.

“We continue to make progress in the dry, improving the car balance and I felt there was more time to come for sure,” says Jonny Kane. “As we demonstrated at Silverstone, the DOME S103 is strong and reliable and we’ll be targeting another good haul of points tomorrow for our championship bid.”

"Today shows we are progressing but we have still some work to do to close the gap to the class front runners in the dry," says technical director Jay Davenport. "We are getting better all the time and our wet weather pace is really strong, posting class-topping times at Silverstone and here at Spa. Our focus on the engineering side is now to look for how to achieve that in all conditions to maintain our championship bid."

With Strakka Racing’s thoughts this weekend firmly on team principal Dan Walmsley’s recently born premature baby, both the car and the drivers’ helmets featured the #keepfightingesme message. “Our thoughts are with Dan and his family this weekend,” says Nick Leventis. “We are all thinking of them and we will do all we can to get a result for them on track.”
