Well deserved points for SIGNATURE F3 at Hockenheim

This weekend, SIGNATURE F3 was in action at the German circuit of Hockenheim, for the second round of the extremely competitive FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP. After difficult qualifying sessions, the LOTUS JUNIOR TEAM F1 drivers, Alex Albon and Dorian Boccolacci, were able to show their fighting strength by climbing up the field. With their DALLARA VW 312T cars, they will be raring to go when they head to Pau in two weeks time !

During the first session, Alex Albon, struggling with his brakes, destroyed all hopes of a good time when he lost control of his single-seater on the second lap. Caught up in traffic, Dorian Boccolacci was not able to improve above 25th position. With rain lashing the circuit during the second session, Alex only found one clear lap, placing him eighth. As for Dorian, he went off during his only fast lap at the end of the session. As the rules stipulate that the best two times set during the second qualifying session give the grid positions for races two and three, Alex was to start from the 8th and 13th places, while Dorian was 23rd and 26th.

In the first race, in wet conditions, Alex started from the back of the grid (36th) and proceeded to climb up the field in style, crossing the line in 14th position. Less at ease, Dorian finished 21st. In the second race, Alex was eighth at the chequered flag. An unlucky Dorian suffered from electronic problems and had to pit. Finally, during the last race of the weekend, under heavy rain, Alex finished 9th, while everything suddenly fell into place for his junior, Dorian, who managed to overtake 14 of his rivals despite the complicated track conditions, and crossed the line in a fine 12th position.

The next meeting will take place in France, during the legendary PAU GP, where SIGNATURE has claimed nine F3 victories on the city track, and will have the home advantage.

PHILIPPE SINAULT - SIGNATURE TEAM PRINCIPAL: "Even if this weekend was difficult, in particular due to the weather conditions, we are nevertheless leaving with reasons to be satisfied. Alex scored points twice from three races, meaning five times out of six since the start of the season, which is strategically important in this Championship ! And there was also Dorian’s final race, who despite the difficult conditions showed that he belongs in this championship. In two weeks time, we will be in Pau, a circuit that is part of our team’s history, as we have claimed nine F3 victories there."
