(SPEEDWAY 1 – WEDNESDAY REVIEW)

WOLVERHAMPTON No.1 Freddie Lindgren was satisfied with his personal display at King’s Lynn on Wednesday – but frustrated that his side missed out on a league point.Lindgren and Ricky Wells combined for a last-race 5-1 at the Adrian Flux Arena but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 40-50 defeat with the home side going second in the Elite League table as a result.Lindgren scored 11+2 for the visitors with Wells adding 10, whilst reserve Lewis Kerr led the way for the Stars on 12+1, with three other riders in double figures.Lindgren said: “King’s Lynn are a really good team who are strong at home. We did our best, but unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough to get a point in the end.“I had a good performance which I needed after a few hard meetings, it was just a shame we weren’t able to come away with a point.”In the National League, Cradley captain Max Clegg scored a paid maximum to help his side go four points clear at the top of the table with a 56-36 win over Mildenhall.Clegg’s 14+1 total was well backed by Matt Williamson on 13 and Nathan Greaves with 10+1 as the Heathens dominated the race wins at Perry Barr.Clegg said: “It was a mint night for me, and it was a really good win for the team over Mildenhall, who are never easy to beat.“I’m really pleased with all the boys tonight, everyone gave it 100% and the hard work paid off with a big win to keep our good run going.”(SPEEDWAY 2 – THURSDAY PREVIEW)

PREMIER League leaders Peterborough will be without teenage sensation Robert Lambert for their trip to Sheffield in a top-of-the-table clash on Thursday.Lambert was signed off due to illness following his Elite League meeting for King’s Lynn on Wednesday, and the rider-replacement facility will be in operation for the Panthers who bring in Brady Kurtz to guest for injured No.1 Olly Allen.Manager Carl Johnson said: “Brady absolutely loves racing at Sheffield and I know it is one of Simon’s (Lambert) favourite tracks as well. “Lewis (Blackbird) had a good night there a week ago and Ulrich Ostergaard finished on the podium in the Premier League Riders’ Championship at the track last season. It is a big, fast place and that should suit our boys.”Sheffield, meanwhile, bring in Craig Cook to guest for Simon Stead and also use r/r with Ty Proctor ruled out due to visa issues.Tigers star Andre Compton said: “It’s going to be a tough meeting for us. They’ve been going really well recently so it’s definitely not going to be easy, but we are looking forward to the challenge.“I’m sure we’ll all knuckle down give it our best shot, and at Owlerton we have to feel confident we have what it takes to get the win.”Ipswich and Glasgow are both looking to gain ground on the early pace-setters when they meet at Foxhall, with Witches promoter Chris Louis expecting another difficult fixture after last Monday’s home defeat to Sheffield. The home side welcome back Gino Manzares from a fractured shoulder blade, but Cameron Heeps is now on the sidelines with a double wrist fracture.Louis said: “They have strength from top to bottom including riders such as Nick Morris, Richard Lawson and Aaron Summers. If the lads thought last Monday was tough then think again, this one could be even worse.”Glasgow manager Stewart Dickson said: “I know I keep saying it - we're not quite firing on all cylinders yet. But we keep winning when that's happening and that's a good sign.“We head to Ipswich on Thursday and then welcome Scunthorpe on Sunday, so if we can add something else from those two matches, it will have been a good week for us.”Redcar will be without Jan Graversen for their home clash with Workington, as the Dane suffered a broken toe and soft tissue damage to his foot in a crash at Plymouth last week.Bears boss Jitendra Duffill said: “It is no secret that we are struggling. It is hugely frustrating for me as home team manager to see us lose and it is really hard to swallow as somebody who is extremely passionate about our team. “I am desperate to win things here at Redcar Speedway and I have already had my say on where our problems lie and what the solution is. I don't want to keep repeating them week after week so my job now is to support our boys and try and help them to do their best.”

CRADLEY have signed up popular youngster Michael Neale as a club asset. The announcement was made prior to the Heathens’ home match against Mildenhall on Wednesday with Neale having impressed at reserve since joining the Perry Barr outfit. He said: “It was a shock when I was asked to become an asset to be honest, and it took me no time at all to agree.“It’s an honour to be an asset of a club like Cradley, and I’m just really happy to be a part of the Heathens.  It’s great that the club have shown faith in me, and it definitely gives me a lot of confidence heading into the rest of the season.”
