SIGNATURE F3 heads to Pau for home race

After Silverstone in mid-April, and Hockenheim two weeks ago, the next round of the FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP will take place in France, more precisely on the legendary circuit of Pau, on May 16th and 17th.

SIGNATURE, an unequalled nine times winner in the Pau city streets, will enter its two Dallara-Volkswagen cars, carrying the colours of the LOTUS F1 TEAM JUNIOR, driven by the 17-year-old French driver Dorian Boccolacci, and Alex Albon from Thailand.•This 74th Grand Prix will be the home race for Philippe Sinault’s team, and they will be keen to shine on this street circuit that many call the ‘little Monaco’

For the third round of the FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP, the 35 drivers will be kept busy on the least typical circuit of the season. Free practice will see them divided into two groups in order to reduce traffic, and three 35-minute races will surely delight the Pau spectators.

A real reservoir of young talent, F3 will the leading category of the weekend. SIGNATURE, the only French team on the grid, was determined not to miss this occasion, especially with a French driver in one of their cars.

It should be remembered that Philippe Sinault’s team has won this event nine times (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 : Race 1 & 2, 2008, 2011), including the last time in 2011 with Marco Wittmann.

After this year’s two events, SIGNATURE is currently lying fifth in the Team classification.

Philippe Sinault –SIGNATURE Team Principal :

I am very pleased to return to this street circuit, as we have been victorious here nine times ! I have had some incredibly emotional times here, and I was even made an honorary citizen of the town in 2011, by the then Mayor. For the 2015 edition, we will have two cars. We are aiming for a top five result from Alex Albon but also a good performance from Dorian who won here last year in F4. Due to the track layout, this race is considered to be a little Monaco, and it is a major international motorsport event.as all those who have won in these streets have gone on to become major Champions, such as Benoit Treluyer (Triple winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans), Edoardo Mortara (DTM), Romain Grosjean (F1) or even Lewis Hamilton, who needs no introduction. As far as the FIA F3 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP is concerned, the FIA has given F3 its legitimate place back, and has confirmed that this series is a real stepping stone for F1 .
