Matevos Isaakyan from start to finish in Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS race 3The long Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS weekend in Austria just ended with a win for Matevos Isaakyan in Race 3.
After Jack Aitken's wins Race 1 and Race 2 it was the turn of JD Motorsport's driver to take the points and a personal revenge after having spun in Race 2 early in the morning.
Isaakyan started from pole according to the qualifying format that sees the reverse of the top twelve of Q2 for the Race 3 grid, and ruled to the chequered flag seizing his first season’s win. An unlucky rase for Aitken who was forced to the back of the pack after a minor contact in the early stages with his Koiranen GP team-mate Baptista that costed him the change of the nose of his car. He however still managed to set fastest lap in 1'30”042.
“After the disappointment of Race 2 where a damaged suspension halted me from competing with top drivers, I had my chance in Race 3 – declared the winner Isaakyan -. Once the Safety Car joined the track I had do it all over again but I still managed to defend my lead. I’m very happy for this win and confident about the Championship.”
The next Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS venue is due in two week-time on the Belgian track of Spa Francorchamps on the 6-7 June weekend.
