Porsche Carrera Cup Germany
Despite the fact, that Ingolstadt-based Christian Engelhart did not score any points at the last Carrera Cup race at Nürburgring, his unquestioned and constant good performance is a strong indication for him to be one of thetitle´s favourites. The 28-year-old is fully motivated for the new task, coming home from Monaco having finished in a great fourth place in the Supercup race. “Lausitzring is an interesting track, because we drive partly on the Oval and partly on a bendy section in the middle of the circuit”, said Engelhart, who drives the #14 MRS-Porsche. “Last year, I finished the race in third place on the podium and this is very much our goal for this year as well, since the championship standings are so tight.”
Currently, Engelhart shares the Runner-up place with Philipp Eng and with 40 scored points, Engelhart is only two points behind the leader, the Swiss Jeffrey Schmidt.
The Australian Spike Goddard, who races in his first Porsche season this year, showed constant improvements in recent weeks and hopes for a Top-12 finish at Lausitz. “Over the past few weeks, I have shown that I have learned a lot and have good potential, especially on difficult race tracks as the Nordschleife and Monaco”, said the 22-year-old, who impressed with a 15th place finish in Monaco.
24h Series – 12hrs Zandvoort
The races of the 24H Series powered by Hankook have not been in MRS favour this year, since both Dubai and Mugello had seemed like a rollercoaster. The Dutchman Xavier Maassen is joining the Lonsee-based team for the 12hrs of Zandvoort and contributes to a good driver pairing. “Xavier is an experienced racing driver and, in addition, the current Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux champion, therefore he will be a great support to our Americans Charles Espenlaub and Charles Putman“, said Team Principal Karsten Molitor. „Xavier will enjoy his home race in Zandvoort and we are looking forward to an exciting 12 hours.“
