Following a historic first win for the entire organization just four weeks ago, Park Place Motorsports drivers Patrick Lindsey and Spencer Pumpelly head into this weekend’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers in search of continued momentum.
“After taking our first victory, I think we’re all quietly hoping the flood gates have opened,” stated team owner and driver Patrick Lindsey. “It’s been such a long time coming, I think in many ways the pressure is off and we can just focus on the racing in front of us. Last year we showed a lot of potential at Detroit, and in many ways this race is unfinished business for us.”
During last year’s event, the team took top Porsche honors in qualifying, just missing the pole position but in a prime position to contend for victory. Unfortunately, a mishap on a restart would cause irreparable damage to the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports / Children’s Tumor Foundation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Lindsey’s 2015 co-driver, Spencer Pumpelly, took pole position during last year’s event with another team, and led for much of the race until a late race incident.
“Detroit is an incredibly unique event, and we’re very optimistic,” stated Pumpelly. “It was a great feeling to help deliver the team their first win, and we all showed potential at last year’s race, so in many ways Saturday will be unfinished business for all of us.”
Saturday’s race begins at 12:00 PM ET and live race coverage can be found on FOX Sports 2, or for those unable to receive the channel, FOX Sports 1 will re-air the race at 2:00 PM ET.
Park Place Motorsports will also provide continuous updates via their Facebook page and Twitter.
