NISMO PlayStation GT Academy 2015 final Gran Turismo®6 time trial features virtual Nissan GT-R LM NISMO at the Le Mans 24 Hours
#RacingDriverWanted - last chance to qualify through GT6 for GT Academy 2015Nissan and PlayStation® are giving Gran Turismo® gamers a unique and exciting opportunity to put the innovative new Nissan GT-R LM NISMO car through its paces at the historic Circuit de la Sarthe, home of the Le Mans 24 Hours, before the car makes its real-life debut in the world-famous race. An in-game time trial, featuring perfect recreations of car and track, will constitute the final Gran Turismo®6 time trial for the 2015 NISMO PlayStation® GT Academy competition.
Three GT Academy winners - Jann Mardenborough, Lucas Ordoñez, and Mark Shulzhitskiy - will make history on 13/14 June as they line up to take part in the LMP1 class of the Le Mans 24 Hours race for Nissan. Aspiring racing drivers aiming to follow in their footsteps will now share the thrill of driving the innovative front-engined, front-wheel-drive 1250bhp hybrid race car, albeit in virtual form. The fastest gamers stand to win a place at the GT Academy European Race Camp, taking place for the first time at the stunning Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in October. A whole new life beckons for the overall winner, with the comprehensive Driver Development Programme readying them for a career in international motor sport.
Along with the three GT Academy graduates competing in the top class at Le Mans, 2015 sees former winners of the competition racing in Formula 1 feeder series GP3, the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Blancpain GT3 series and the top class of the Japanese Super GT series.
Only two weeks remain to enter the GT Academy 2015 competition via GT6 and chase the dream of racing for real. The final round of the online qualifying competition goes live today (Tuesday, 2 June) and runs until Tuesday, 16 June, just after the actual Le Mans race. The competition remains open, however, with a series of live qualifying events taking place throughout the summer months.
This year’s online Gran Turismo qualifying competition for GT Academy has mirrored the real-life racing careers of the former winners, now NISMO athletes. Starting off in a Nissan GT-R NISMO road car, the rounds have progressed in difficulty with a GT-R NISMO GT3 racing car followed by the Nissan-powered Greaves Motorsport prototype that took Jann and Lucas to the Le Mans LMP2 podium in 2013. The Nissan GT-R LM NISMO is a fitting finale as hundreds of thousands of racing driver hopefuls across the world battle for their places at Race Camp.
