MML Sports heads for Tanzania buoyed by another win

Another win for the Team Kibos/MML Sports rally team in the Kenyan national Rally Championship sees the company heading for this weekend's  fourth round of the FIA African Rally Championship full of confidence, leading both the national and regional series.

Jaspreet Chatthe was partnered by Gugu Panesar on the KCB Voi rally, which they led from start to finish, emerging with a 30 second margin to claim another win in the KnRC and extent their lead in the title standings.

Again, the MML Sports-prepared Mitsubishi Lancer EvolutionX R4 needed just fuel and tyres throughout the event, run on closed ranch roads close to Mombasa.

While another win in the KnRC was welcome, the result means momentum is very high as the team heads for Tanzania and the fourth round of the ARC.

The event is based at the Southern Sun Hotel HQ in Dar Es Salaam but the stages and service park will all be to the west of the capitol city, in the area around Kisura.

The event comprises three days of action, with a short, 1.45Km superspecial stage at Tazara, close to the event HQ on the evening of Friday 12 June. The action begins in earnest on Saturday 13 June though, with six stages, including two runs through the Banda Forest stage, at 48.59Km long - one of these to end the first full day.

The third and final day - Sunday 14 June - features nine stages run over three loops of essentially the same roads. This means that in the final loop of three stages, the crews will cover the 13.52Km Kazimzumbwe stage five times and the others, four.

This means the stages are likely to become rough and rutted, which are exactly the conditions the MML Sports R4 EvoX has excelled in so far.

Commenting, Managing Director, John Easton, said; "I think this weekend will be a difficult one, for lots of reasons, not least of which how the road conditions are going to change as the field passes through. With five runs over one and four over the rest, they are going to become quite rough. But as we have seen so far this year, that doesn't seem to pose too great a problem.

"Our R4-specification car tends to handle rough conditions very well and remain competitive. Now that Jassi has his new pace note system well and truly worked-out, he and Craig are working very well in the car and I hope that the team is able to repeat its success on the last few events.

"The result in Mombasa give us another huge boost in confidence ahead of this rally and I look forward to celebrating with Jassi, Craig and the rest of the Team Kibos members at the finish."
