James was happy to post some more points on the MSA Formula Championship table after a difficult start to the weekend.
The 15-year-old JTR driver finished eighth in the final race to leave in a positive frame of mind.
And after his wheel locked on the first lap of the first race, it was just the tonic the ADD Motorsports-supported racer needed. He said: “It was quite a frustrating weekend for me, I struggled on the first corners early on and my first race ended early after my wheel locked.
“But I came back really strongly in the second race and then was really fast in the last one. It was good to end the final race and the weekend with some points.”
James, from Singapore, but now living in Herts, qualified for the first race in 10th, but after being given a five-place grid penalty in the last round for coming together with another driver, he started in 15th.He struggled on the first two corners and went for a move that ended with his wheel locking - and he could do nothing but drive straight into the gravel for a DNF.
This meant starting at the back for the second race and with no pressure on him, he maneuvered himself brilliantly from 22nd to finish in 13th, knowing a couple of extra laps may have even seen him finish in the Top 10.It set him up nicely for the final race, where he started in 9th.
A great start saw him fly into 7th, but with six minutes to go, some problems with his gear change saw him drop back to ninth again.
After the race he was moved up a position after another driver was penalised for overtaking on a yellow flag.
James added: “It wasn’t the best of weekends and it was made more difficult as it was my first time on a difficult track.
“But when I got used to the first few corners, things were a lot better.
“I’m hoping to improve for the next round. I know the potential is there, I just need a few things to click again and keep working hard and hopefully it will come together.”
