Supercar regulars win at Spa on Pirelli tyres

Dutch Supercar Challenge regulars Roger Grouwels and Kelvin Snoeks were the big winners as the Pirelli-supplied series staged races at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend.

Grouwels/Snoeks’ Team RaceArt Dodge Viper GT3 R finished first and second in the Spa Euro Races held at the famous Belgian circuit, running in the Super GT Division. Race two was won by the Spanish crew of Jurgen Smet/Jose Manuel Perez in a Monlau Competicion-run Renault RS01.

Jake Camilleri (Mazda V8) took GTB honours in race one in 10th overall with Simon Atkinson (Lamborghini Gallardo) finishing sixth overall and achiving the class win in race two. Philippe Bonneel/Bas Schouten (BMW M3 E92) and Dennis de Groot/Marth de Graaf (BMW 132 GTR) shared the Supersport spoils.

The next round of the series completes a Belgian double-header with the action taking place at Zolder from June 19-21.

Bailey and Schulz hold advantage in Pirelli-supported GT Cup

Paul Bailey and Andy Schulz lead the overall GT Cup Championship standings heading to round four of eight in the Pirelli-backed series at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit this weekend.

Bailey/Schulz have 255 points in their Horsepower Racing/TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3, four ahead of nearest rivals Wayne Marrs/Charlie Hollings in an FF Corse Ferrari 458 GTC.

In the GTA class Mick Mercer/Gary Smith have a 37-point advantage in their Geoff Steel Racing BMW E46 M3 GTR, while brothers Tom and James Webb have a more slender nine-point lead in GTB aboard their similar self-run BMW.

Marrs/Hollings lead the GTC category in their Ferrari, while in GTO Bailey/Schulz hold a narrow advantage over Darren Nelson, who scored a hat-trick in the last round at Rockingham aboard his FF Corse Ferrari.

Pirelli’s exclusive tyre supply agreement with the GT Cup Championship enables the company to showcase the versatility of its products by providing tyres to a plethora of different sportscar manufacturers.

Smith leads MINIs with Pirelli heading to halway point

Rob Smith leads the top class in the Pirelli-supplied Power Maxed MINI Challenge heading into round four of the championship at Silverstone this weekend.

Smith heads second-placed Charlie Butler-Henderson by just eight points in the lead F56 category after the latter won one race the last time the class contenders raced at Brands Hatch in May, where Smith was nevertheless twice a podium finisher.

In the JCW class Neil Newstead has a healthy 42-point lead over nearest rival Hamish Brandon, while in the Cooper class Ricky Page leads Nathan Harrison by just three points after the latter scored a win when that division raced at Rockingham last month.

At the start of this year Pirelli extended its long-term partnership with the Power Maxed MINI Challenge.

Pirelli runners set for Carlisle Stages Rally

Dave Weston Jr leads the BTRDA Rally Series Gold Star Driver points heading to the Carlisle Stages Rally, based in the challenging Kielder Forest complex, on Saturday.

Pirelli runner Weston, who won last month’s Plains Rally with co-driver Kirsty Riddick in their Subaru Impreza WRC, holds a 15-point lead over Stephen Petch at the halfway point in the national championship.

This weekend’s rally, based in Longtown, also counts as a round of the RAC Rally Championship for which Pirelli is a tyre partner.
