MotoGP to remain in Qatar until 2026

MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports and the Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation (QMMF) have signed a ten-year extension to the deal that sees an annual MotoGP race held at Qatar's Losail International Circuit.

Qatar has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP World Championship since 2004, and it will remain on the calendar each year until at least 2026 following the latest agreement.

The deal extends an agreement that was scheduled to run until after the 2016 edition.

The race has been the MotoGP season-opener since 2007, and since 2008 it has been run at night, under the floodlights at the Losail International Circuit.

"Losail International Circuit always creates a magic atmosphere and the brotherhood of the two companies has grown throughout the years", said Dorna Sports chief executive Carmelo Ezpeleta.

QMMF president Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Attiyah said: “We are very excited about continuing our partnership with MotoG and securing our place in the calendar for another decade. The night race is a spectacular event that we’re proud to host and we aim to keep perfecting this partnership."
