What's Happening‏ At Lime Rock Park

Here's the latest news and upcoming-events info from New England’s Road Racing Home...

Road to 60 Project If you were here for the terrific Memorial Day Trans Am weekend, you saw the vastly improved spectator viewing areas in both the Infield and Outfield. You saw the bigger, nicer, fan-friendly A Paddock. You saw the all-new restroom in A getting built. You saw the all-new spectator fencing – now as close to the track as allowed by the FIA, from the Pedestrian Bridge to halfway up No Name Straight – and B Paddock is close to having the asphalt laid-in. Since Trans Am, we’ve been working hard to finish everything up as fast as we can. What’s old is new at Lime Rock Park! --------------------June 19-20: SCCA New England Region Race Weekend this weekend Bring Dad to Lime Rock for Father’s Day Eve! Hundreds of New England’s best amateur drivers descend on Lime Rock for non-stop racing action starting Friday. Every kind of race car imaginable – “a car for every class and a class for every car” – will be here, from lightning quick formula cars to big bruiser Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros. There are eight race groups, each will run a double-header, 18 laps Saturday morning, then another 18-lapper in the afternoon. Tickets are very affordable: Friday qualifying is free (just sign the Track Waiver at the Main Entrance) and Saturday Race Day is only $20. --------------------Fourth of July Fireworks (Saturday, 7/4) to Benefit the Salisbury Rotary Club For more than 30 years, Lime Rock has hosted the annual Rotary Club Independence Day Fireworks by donating the facility and its personnel so that the all proceeds ($20 per car) go to the Rotary. They put on a great fireworks show as we open all the concession stands and the paddock café, too. Gates open at 6:00, so bring family and friends and “play in the park” before the fireworks start around 9:15 p.m. --------------------July 24-25: IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship & Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Everyone’s happy about IMSA’s return to Lime Rock with its exciting Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona divisions. The ORECA FLM09 prototypes reach more than 150 mph on Sam Posey Straight, and the GTDs (everything from Aston Martins, Audi R8s and BMW Z4s to Ferraris, 911s and Dodge SRT Vipers) aren’t far behind. PLUS, both classes of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge – some of the best stock car road racing in the world – are here. You’ll see the big, loud and fast Camaros, Porsches, Mustangs, Aston Martins, BMWs and 370Zs banging fenders in GS, while the ST race has the quick and agile Hondas, VWs, BMW 128/328, Mazda 3/MX-5 and Porsche Boxsters. IMSA has been racing at Lime Rock since the early 1970s, and the tradition continues. Click on the image for ticket information.

--------------------September 3-7 Labor Day Weekend: Historic Festival 33 featuring Sir Stirling Moss, Jochen Mass and the famous “722” Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR that won the 1955 Mille Miglia Lime Rock’s flagship vintage event is a must-do weekend. Since 1983, there’s been only one North American venue that combines, all on the same property, all at the same time, multiple days of historic racing, a vintage race car parade through town, a prestigious concours and an additional “crowd sourced” gathering of close to 1,000 collector cars: Lime Rock’s Labor Day weekend Historic Festival and Sunday in the Park Concours d’Elegance.

Remember: For ALL Lime Rock Race Weekends, veterans and active military are admitted free, kids 12 and under are free, and parking is free. Tent-camping is just $25 (total) for an entire event.
