The long break started after the Monaco round of the GP2 Series and the upcoming race weekend at Red Bull Ring in Austria is finally over, and Trident Racing is ready to line-up at the historical - although completely overhauled - Sipelberg venue. The Italian squad will also be at its Austrian return after taking a stunning pole and cruising to a sensational win with Johnny Cecotto Jr in 2014.
As said, Trident is ready to turn their engines back on and Raffaele Marciello and Rene Binder can't wait to be on-track once again. It's been a long break for them too, so they're eager to put their race suits and helmets on. Binder will be at his home round, while Marciello is aiming for more glory after the group pole and the second place grabbed in Monte Carlo.
The weekend's activity will be starting on Friday with the traditional free practice session set for 11:55. Qualifying will follow later in the afternoon at 15:55. Race 1 will be taking-off on Saturday at 15:40, while Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 10:35. All the on-track activity will be covered live in Italy by Sky Sport F1.
The Spielberg weekend will also feature the return of the GP3 Series. Teams and drivers of the developmental championship had an even longer break than their GP2 colleagues, and they will return to the show six weeks after their latest outing. The desire of being operative again is high for both the Trident staff and drivers. The team will field its 2015... trident featuring Luca Ghiotto, Oscar Tunjo and Artur Janosz. In the only round held by the series so far at Barcelona, Ghiotto has been a major star, scoring the first pole of the season and then staying on top with with a second place in Race 2.
The GP3 Series will be back to their usual times at Red Bull Ring. Practice will start on Friday at 17:50, while Qualifying and Race 1 will go underway on Saturday, respectively at 9:40 AM and 17:20. Race 2 will round out the weekend at 9:25 AM on Sunday.
