Joe Collier racing on the Haribo Starmix Triumph had another strong weekend at round four of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship at the Snetterton 300 circuit. The 20-year-old from Coalville secured a solid second place in race one and a positive race win in the main race on Sunday.
Joe was riding well all weekend and was setting consistently fast times keeping him within the top ten of the main Supersport class and fastest Evo rider. He qualified in 10th place for the opening 10-lap race and was looking for a strong race, the team made some changes before race one and Joe was unable to work with these and suffered in the race to fight for the race win. He was leading the Evo race for several laps but did not want to push too hard as he was struggling with the front end and Marshall Neill passed him on the last lap which dropped Joe to second.
Joe once again was placed in 10th place on the grid for race two, he struggled off the start and was 3rd Evo rider across the line after lap one. He soon settled into a rhythm and by lap three had moved through to second place, it was not long before he got passed Evo race leader Levi Day for the lead. He proceeded to get his head down, ride hard and secure his fifth race win of the season and also a great sixth place overall, he is now leading the Evo Championship by 79-points and sixth in the main Supersport Championship.
Joe Collier - "I was a bit disappointed with race one, we made some changes and went totally the wrong way with it. I was pushing hard but I was suffering with a lot of chatter on the front end and didn't want to risk crashing. I am trying to be as consistent as possible in the Championship and my aim is to finish as many races as I can on the podium.
We went back to the original settings from the Friday and it worked really well, it is always a bit messy on the opening couple of laps and I just wanted to get settled in. I got my head down and knew the other Evo riders hadn't got away too much so just worked hard and managed to get past Levi and make a bit of a break away. It's mega to take another win but also sixth in the main race is a really good achievement on an Evo bike, I would like to dedicate that win to Guy Sanders, the son of my team boss Derek. The team worked really hard to get the Triumph right and I'm looking forward to getting to Knockhill in a couple of weeks."
