Christo Wins 24 Hours of Paul Ricard

Adam Christodoulou has won the inaugural 24 Hours of Paul Ricard with RAM Racing in the team's Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 bringing his total number of 24-hour wins to three. The Mercedes AMG Professional Driver once again joined the British racing team following successful outings at Dubai 24 Hours of Mugello 12 Hours, where they finished second in both. This time the team was determined to take the race win, and Christodoulou and fellow drivers Thomas Jäger (DE), Tom Onslow-Cole (GB) and Paul White (GB) fought off some stiff competition to complete the job.

"We were under no illusions this weekend," he commented. "The team boss, Dan Shufflebottom, was not going to be happy with anything but a win but looking at the entry list we knew it would be tough. We had a very strong line-up but there were some seriously quick cars, teams and drivers to contend with."

The weekend started well as RAM Racing qualified the #30 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 on pole and the race continued in the same vein as they managed to pull away a good lead through fast pace, quick pit stops and excellent strategy.

"It all fell into place early on and this gave us a good buffer," continued Christodoulou who has taken 24-hour victories at the Nüburgring and Barcelona. "The car felt fantastic and we got into a really good rhythm with our stints so, by the halfway mark, we were more than a minute and a half head of the #7 Porsche."

However, in long distance endurance races, a buffer can quickly be removed and 64 seconds of penalties and an additional brake disc change did just that.

"I emerged from the pits on my morning stint more than 120 seconds behind them but managed to close this to five seconds before we both pitted," he explained. "Then I had to hand over and let the boys take on the battle from there."

"They all did a mega job and we won the team's first 24 hour race in its first year of long-distance endurance racing. I'd like to congratulate and thank the team for doing an awesome job and getting the result they well and truly deserved."

Christodoulou next races at Spa 24 Hours in a fortnight with Mercedes AMG customer team Black Falcon.
