This annual event on the 18th and 19th July is rapidly becoming a firm favourite on the racing calendar and is kindly supported by Classic and Sports Car Magazine, Stewart Miller and Peter James Insurance and Stratstone. The action-packed weekend always attracts a wide variety of pre 1980s competition cars competing on the historic hill climb course, plus features, spectacular static vehicle displays, trade stands, vintage-inspired entertainment, musicians, live bands and show dancers.

Action on the hill consists of two one day National B events for pre-1980 cars. On each day, practice is in the morning, where all competitors are offered two practice runs. The competitive runs take place in the afternoon, with each driver having two runs.

DEREK BELL CELEBRATION

The Midland Automobile Club will be celebrating the successes of 5 time Le Mans winner Derek Bell at Classic Nostalgia on the 18th and 19th July, has he celebrates his 40th anniversary of his first Le Mans win.

Derek who went to school at Kings, Worcester, will be taking to the hill in a variety of cars including the Porsche 956 that he drove during the 1983 season, sharing it with Stefan Bellof who used the car to set the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record of 6 minutes 11.13 seconds. Of all the Rothmans Porsches, it is this car that is the most talked about.

Derek will also drive the Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12C in which he competed in the 1976 Tourist Trophy at Silverstone.

Throughout Sunday there will be book signing and autograph sessions as well as an interview in The Courtyard during the lunch break with motorsport commentator Toby Moody.

Derek's book, My Racing Life, a highly readable autobiography in which he recalls a life in motor racing that spanned over 40 years and was packed with achievement and diversity, will be available to purchase throughout the weekend with opportunities to get copies signed on the Sunday.

Derek Bell is best-known as the consummate endurance sports car driver who won the Le Mans 24 Hours five times and the Daytona 24 Hours three times, teamed with racing greats such as Jacky Ickx, Hans Stuck and Al Holbert.

Besides sports car racing, he has competed in many different cars and categories, from a works seat with Ferrari in Formula 1 in 1968 to rally driving a Vauxhall.

JAGUAR ANNIVERSARIES

Throughout the weekend Shelsley will honour the marque 'Jaguar' with special displays to commemorate the brands numerous anniversaries this year.◾80 years of the Jaguar name,◾60th anniversary of the Jaguar Mk1,◾60 years since the last Le Mans win for Jaguar Cars Ltd◾40th anniversary of the Jaguar XJS,◾40 years of the XJ Coupe,◾25 years since a Jaguar last won Le Mans.

Action on the hill will include a demonstration of the Jaguar XJR 9 #187 which Jan Lammers and John Watson drove during the 1987 sportscar season, helping to take the World Championship that year.

There will also be demonstration runs from the Group 44 Jaguar, and the Broadspeed Jaguar XJ12 Coupe which also form part of the Derek Bell Celebration.

Norman Dewis OBE will join us on the Sunday and will be on the Philip Porter stand with interviews and book signing sessions throughout the day. In a career spanning 33 years, Dewis played a pivotal role in the development of 25 significant Jaguar cars including the E- type, D-type and XK models. As chief development test engineer at Jaguar for 36 years he is synonymous with the brand's success – both on and off the track and widely regarded as Britain's greatest test driver having completed more than a million test miles at an average speed of 100 mph-plus. This year the British engineering icon was finally awarded an OBE in the Honours List for his contribution to the automotive industry.

CHEVRON ANNIVERSARY

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chevron Cars, a number of the cars will be in action throughout the weekend including a B1, the first car to bear the Chevron name and will be driven by Anthony Reid, a couple of B16, a B25 owned by John Lepp, a B27 which was famously sponsored by Astro Turf in 1974, plus a B47 amongst others.

CAR CLUBS

On the Saturday Triumph will hold their annual Standard Triumph Marque Day, with over 15 marque clubs represented and approximately 500 pre-1984 vehicles on display. Other visiting car clubs over the weekend include the Stag Owners Club, Triumph 2000/2500/2.5 Register, Club Triumph, Coventry Motor Museum, Club Marcos International, Regional Porsche Club, Gilbern Owners Club, 1940 Morris Register, Jaguar XK Enthusiasts, Jaguar XJS Club, Club Alpine Renault, Bristol Owners Club, Sporting Bears, Ginetta Owners Club, MG Midget & Sprite Club and Dellow Register plus the Military Vehicle Trust.

AIR DISPLAYS

Taking to the skies above, will be a thrilling Muscle Biplane Air Display, pilot Richard Goodwin will put a 1960s Pitts S2S G-EWIZ biplane through its paces in an aerobatic display (both days weather permitting).

With 2015 being the anniversary of the Battle of Britain, we are delighted to announce that the RAF Team has confirmed a flypast of the BBMF Spitfire to commemorate the 75th anniversary. The Spitfire will fly over Shelsley on the Sunday to what will be a very poignant and evocative sight to behold.

THE COURTYARD ENTERTAINMENT

The Courtyard stage plays host to non-stop music throughout the weekend celebrating 1940s, 1950s to modern classics.

∙Sam and his Sax will have the whole place Rocking on the Saturday as he belts out 1950s Rock and Roll classics.

∙'Rat Pack' singer Roman Marek – the purveyor of 'cool swing will be will have you singing along to Frank Sinatra's greatest hits on the Sunday.

Glamourous songstress Lola Lamour, often referred to as Britain's most authentic 1940s singer will have you transfixed as she graces the stage with her 'Hollywood Screen Siren' presence.

The Rat Pack sets will be accompanied by the stunning and talented Vegas Show Girls with their high octane dance routines.

CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE Sponsored By Classic and Sports Car Magazine

Sunday sees the annual Street Concours open for cars built before 1982, the Concours is once again kindly sponsored by Classic & Sports Car magazine and is open to the first 100 entries through the gate before 12 noon and is judged by motoring journalist and regular Shelsley Walsh competitor, Simon Taylor and James Page from Classic & Sports Car Magazine.

There is no charge to enter the Concours but cars must be driven through the entry gate, no trailers please!.

The top 15 cars then get to drive up the hill in a cavalcade during the lunch break and the overall winner of the Concours receives a silver salver and is invited to display the vehicle on the Club's stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November.

PERIOD DRESS Sponsored by Holden Vintage and Classic

Visitors are also encouraged to wear period dress; this year the Vintage Fashion Competition will be sponsored by Holden Vintage & Classic, a gift voucher will be awarded in the Courtyard by Holden on the Sunday at 4pm for the best vintage outfit.

TRADE STANDS

The Tradestand village will be located in the Paddock and on the hill with a variety of traders offering car polish to luggage, auto jumble and books to insurance and auctions.

Each day starts at approx. 9.15 am and finishes around 5.30pm dependent on the conduct of the event.

Admission tickets are £15.00 and includes parking, access to seated enclosures and access to the Paddock.
