When you can hear the sound of over 100 GT race cars awakening the idyllic place that is Francorchamps, it is time again for the Total 24 Hours of Spa. Total 24 Hours Spa FrancorchampsThe number 73 Nissan GT-R run by Molitor Racing System will race for the very first time in a 24-hours race. The three drivers from the Blancpain Endurance Series (Craig Dolby, Sean Walkinshaw und Martin Plowman) are looking forward to the new task awaiting the team this coming weekend.
“I am looking forward to the biggest race of my career as it´s my first ever 24 hours race and the Nissan will be very strong”, said Dolby. “My teammates and I have a fantastic team and a great chance to get a great result.”
The 7-km-long track with its long, fast straights and speedy corners suits the „Godzilla“, as the racing car is famously named by its Japanese fans. It will be an especially tough challenge for Sean Walkinshaw, who has never raced by night before.
“I'm obviously really excited for my first 24 hours race”, said Walkinshaw. “This race is the one you pretty much look forward to all season. It's definitely going to be a massive challenge especially because I've never raced at night before, but we've shown good pace all year and the official Spa pre-test went pretty well so I'm pretty confident we should get a good result.“ The race will go underway at 04:30 pm.
Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Budapest With only four races left in this year´s season, the fight for the top positions in the championship´s standings will become tighter and tighter. Christian Engelhart secured a fifth place in the recent, dramatic race at Silverstone and lies only two points behind the second-placed in the standings, Alex Riberas. The race at the Hungaroring will be a tough one.“Budapest is a difficult track and it is very hot there most of the time”, said Engelhart, who drives the #14 MRS-Porsche. “The track can get quite dirty when the wind is blowing heavily and overtaking is also not the easiest thing. But I will try everything to get onto the podium and secure as many points as possible.”
Spike Goddard finished the last race at Silverstone in his best-ever position in the Supercup, crossing the finishing line in a great 12th position. “I like the track in Hungary and I am looking forward to the race”, said the Australian. “We had a test at the Nürburgring last Sunday and everything went to plan. I am confident we will have a great team result again.”
The race will start on Sunday at 11:45am and will be broadcast live on Eurosport.
