The Central European track, one of the toughest racing circuits, is a favourite for Canamasas. His previous racing experience at Hungaroring is a good basis on which to build on over the weekend in the Dallara GP2/11
Sergio Canamasas, the only Spaniard competing in the main Formula 1 feeder series has reached an agreement to join Hilmer Motorsport and drive one of its cars next weekend. Canamasas took part in the opening pre-season test in Abu Dhabi with Hilmer Motorsport, so he won´t start from scratch this time.
Canamasas, who performed extremely well in Monte Carlo claiming a podium finish, eyes to score new points at Hungaroring. It is worth mentioning that the Hungarian track has many similarities to the Monegasque one, as sometimes is called “Monaco without walls”. “It is never easy to switch teams but we are working flat out to optimize our performance together from the early morning. Hungaroring brings me good memories, because I grabbed podium spots in the past and even set pole position time back in 2011 during my Formula Renault 3.5 days. I hope to see how successful our hard work is and of course, I want to enjoy driving the Dallara GP2 car again. High temperatures expected aren´t a big issue for me, as I am able to cope with them, at least better than others. Let´s us complete an incident-free practice session to improve steadily for qualifying”, Canamasas said at the end of the day.
Friday´s free practice will start at 12PM with qualifying session at 15.55.
