Tutumlu´s Lamborghini Huracan had mechanical problems during Thursday´s free practice sessions and it affected his performance Friday in qualifying. Despite this, the Spanish driver passed four cars on his stint and finally finished 7th at the wheel of the car shared with Jesse Anttila.
Tutumlu, teaming up with Finland's, experienced several technical issues with his car on Thursday and it ruined his schedule in both free practice sessions.
Tutumlu remaked: “In FP1 we had engine problems, due to motor flange, and in FP2 our brakes were the main concern. So nothing went according to plan. I approached today´s qualifying session with no idea of how the Lamborghini performs here. So I decided to have a calm approach, reaching its limits little by little. And my result wasn´t bad at all”, as his 2:21.130 was good enough to set 8th-fastest in class and securing sixth row.
Race 1 of the mborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo got underway just moments before 3PM and Tutumlu had to overcome an eventful opening lap, as “At La Source Spengler and Campana made contact in front of me. I had to avoid them and, on the outside, I dropped two places. But then, after three laps, I managed to overtake four cars, passing drivers such as Moscato or Peregrinelli. Shortly after the safety car has come out. We had it on track for a long period, so when it entered the pit lane, we decided to pit then and I handed over to Jesse”, Tutumlu underlines. “Entering the pit lane behind the safety car cost us valuable time, four or five seconds, but at least Jesse could bring seventh place home. We scored some points. Tomorrow I will make the opening stint again, as my teammate prefers that as I´m more experienced”, the Spanish driver explained.
Race 2 takes place today at 11.40, immediately before the 24 hours of Spa.
