Former Rolex 24 At Daytona overall winner and 1982 Trans-Am Champion Elliott Forbes-Robinson has entered the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Classic 24 Hour at Daytona presented by IMSA, November 12 – 15, where he will co-drive with experienced prototype sports car driver Larry Huang.

Forbes-Robinson – best known simply as “EFR” – won the 1982 Trans-Am title and captured overall Rolex 24 wins at Daytona in 1997 and 1999. He is still active in sports car racing and currently serves as an IMSA Steward and the Race Director for the IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites series. He also assisted HSR in 2014 with the inaugural Classic 24 Hour at Daytona driver orientation program and will fill the same role again this year.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Forbes-Robinson said. “After running the Le Mans Classic in France last year, and seeing how that went and how popular it was, I am so glad we are doing it here. The Classic 24 Hour at Daytona has already developed into a spectacular event.”

Forbes-Robinson, who was inducted in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2006, will co-drive Huang’s Oreca FLM09 Prototype Challenge (PC) race car (pictured) in the Classic 24 Hour. One of the more contemporary entries in the race, and prepared by Savannah Race Engineering, the Oreca was driven to victory a little over a year ago by Sean Rayhall and Luis Diaz in the Oak Tree Grand Prix PC feature race at VIRginia International Raceway.

"The Classic 24 is a unique opportunity for me to drive with EFR, a sports car racing legend, at the historic Daytona International Speedway,” Huang said. “Having raced in the actual Rolex 24 At Daytona in 2004, which was red flagged due to torrential rain, I am confident the Classic 24 will be considerably more fun! And seeing all the cars from multiple eras in one place is icing on the cake. Can’t ask for better.”

- 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jochen Mass  was a high-profile participant in the inaugural Classic 24 Hour last year and the Grand Marshal of this past January’s Rolex 24 At Daytona. He is preparing for yet another visit to the World Center of Racing in November for this year’s Classic 24 where the German sports car racing legend and Formula 1 race winner will again co-drive the No. 13 Heritage Motorsports-prepared 1974 Porsche 911 RSR with Mike Banz.

- Just weeks after entering a Dyson Racing Porsche 962 and the legendary JLP-3 Porsche 935, Zak Brown and United Autosports have added a third Classic 24 entry. The European-based team is also bringing a 1985 Roush Ford Mustang IMSA GTO race car to Daytona. Brown is the only driver currently listed on all three entries but some notable additions to the team are expected when United Autosports announces its Classic 24 driver lineup next week.

- Eric Curran is in the midst of a tight battle for the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship but the Prototype driver has still found the time to enter the Classic 24. Curran, a Massachusetts native who now lives in Sarasota, Florida, will co-drive a Hudson Historics-prepared 2009 Coyote Daytona Prototype with William Hubbell at Daytona. His first order of business, however, is winning the IMSA TUDOR Prototype title. With just two races left at Circuit of The Americas and Road Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans in the next 30 days, Curran and teammate Dane Cameron are only two points out of first place in the Prototype point standings.

- Another sports car racing legend to recently enter the Classic 24 is Austrian Touring Car icon Dieter Quester. Still going strong and actively racing at 75-years-old, Quester is bringing an Alpina B6 GT3 (pictured) to Daytona. Quester will co-drive the BMW-based GT3 race car, which will be adorned with a familiar Red Bull livery for the Classic 24, with Andreas Bovensiepen, CEO of Alpina and an accomplished race car driver and automotive enthusiast.

The list of current and legendary drivers confirmed for the Classic 24 now includes Jochen Mass, Bobby Rahal, Hurley Haywood, Gijs Van Lennep, Patrick Long, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Eric Curran, Scott Sharp, Jim Pace, Dieter Quester, Zak Brown, Jeff Zwart, Shane Lewis, Mike Skeen, Gunnar Jeanette and many more.

The equally impressive racing machines these drivers and other Classic 24 competitors will race in the Daytona event is a rolling collection of top sports cars and prototypes from the past 50 years.

The next event for HSR is the Atlanta Fall Historics at Road Atlanta, September 18 – 20.
