Five at five for Strakka Racing's CoTA debut

P5 at the fifth round of the World Endurance Championship in Texas

Strakka Racing will line up fifth in the LMP2 class for today’s Six Hours of Circuit of the Americas. With air temperatures nudging 33°C, the early Friday evening qualifying session was headed by Danny Watts, making his racing debut at the Texas circuit. “It’s a mega track and a lot of fun to drive, especially the opening part of the lap,” says Watts. “We’re in the open top car now but we’re still battling with the heat. Plenty of coconut water, of course!”

Impeded by traffic and with an early red flag reducing the number of laps available, Nick Leventis initially ended a frantic qualifying session in sixth before an infringement for the KCMG Oreca lifted the Gibson into the top five. “We’ve got a good set up and we think it will suit the conditions expected tonight,” says Leventis. “Racing into the night adds to the special atmosphere the organisers have created here in Texas. US fans truly love sports car racing and it’s been great to see some familiar faces as well as lots of new Strakka supporters.”

The race starts this evening at 17:00 local time in Austin. Fans back home in the UK can watch all the race live on Motors TV or via the WEC live stream.
