Villorba Corse switches to Ligier for 2016 ELMS campaign

Lacorte / Sernagiotto to continue their "Road to Le Mans" project with the new LMP3 prototype

Scuderia Villorba Corse will take part in the European Le Mans Series also in 2016. Italian team is confirming its LMP3 class commitments in the ACO Le Mans sanctioned international championship but it will line up a different prototype; the new Ligier JS P3. Villorba Corse is already working on this new challenge, also confirming the V8 Nissan engine and their enterly Italian driver line-up formed by Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto, who finished second in two occasions out of four races last season. The squad led by Raimondo Amadio will inaugurate the second year of their "Road to Le Mans" project at Silverstone, ELMS season opener over the weekend of April 17th.

Alongside their GT programmes, this new endurance challenge and this technical change, which gives Villorba Corse the opportunity to join forces with another international excellence, are strengthening team's ambitions to be among the major contenders in the Le Mans Prototype world, as Team Principal Amadio confirms; “Switching to Ligier is a reinforcement of our firm belief in the LMP3 class effectiveness. As planned, 2015 was a formative year, now we aim to take advantage of that experience and with Roberto and Giorgio we can do a very good job. We mutually learned to work together on the same project and thanks to the development we are putting in practice inside our structure the team will be very well prepared for an exciting season”.

Lacorte says; “It will be a very stimulating year for our way towards the Le Mans 24 Hours. By switching to Ligier, with a new and specialized engineer at our side and with a new organization, Villorba Corse is doing a lot to begin the season in the best possible way. I look forward to lower the visor and take on this new challenge with the right determination and concentration”.Sernagiotto adds; “After a training year, very difficult but also very important, we are ready for a new challenge with a new chassis. The team with Roberto Lacorte and Villorba Corse is very close-knit and we are excited to start up again for a great 2016!”.
