WTCC winner Tiago Monteiro hopes to keep momentum in Hungary

After three podiums and a victory in the opening two rounds of the 2016 FIA World touring Car Championship, WTCC, Tiago Monteiro is hoping to continue his good results this coming weekend in Hungary and extend his lead in the drivers' championship. However, the Portuguese driver is a little cautious about the demands of the Hungaroring circuit.

The Honda Civic will take to the track with over 70 kilos of ballast due to the team's success in previous races and this could mean a lack of performance for Tiago Monteiro: "We performed so well in the previous two weekends that we will now be carrying 70kg of ballast, and we will need to adjust the car to this new reality.. We will try and do the best job possible in these conditions. We will not have an easy weekend but we will not give up. We will go in fighting and try to minimize the damage," Tiago Monteiro explained.

Reaching the podium is the aim in at least one of the races but if that is too complicated then... "At least amass some good points in both races for both championships. The Honda Civic is much better than last year but still needs some improvements and we will work on our set-up and a strategy that will help us get further ahead. The added weight will be adjusted race by race, so if it goes wrong this weekend the following one could be better !. We have a plan of action and that is valuable for our aim in terms of the championship. We remain optimistic and willing to fight," Tiago, who is already on his way to Budapest, concluded.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 15h and will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2. The races take place on Sunday at 13h and 16h and will also be broadcasted on Eurosport.
