Yuichi Nakayama joins KCMG for Audi R8 LMS Cup season opener at Shanghai

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) has announced that Yuichi Nakayama will represent the Hong Kong-based squad in their maiden Audi R8 LMS Cup outing at Shanghai International Circuit. The first stop in the 12-race calendar of the Asian sprint race series of the brand with four rings will be held on May 20-21. Nakayama completes KCMG’s line up as he joins Jan Kisiel and Martin Rump in China this weekend.

This season, the 2013 Japanese F3 champion divides his time competing in Super Formula for KCMG and another highly competitive series, Super GT300. The forthcoming Audi event will be Nakayama’s first time to race a GT3 car on what will also be his maiden race on Shanghai’s 5.451km F1 track.

Yuichi Nakayama: “It’s an honour to represent KCMG in their first race in Audi R8 LMS Cup with Jan and Martin. KCMG is more like a family, having raced for the team since 2014 in Super Formula. Also, what makes this event very special is that I’ve been wanting to race a GT3 car, as well as sample the F1 track in Shanghai – so for me, this is hitting two birds with one stone! Once again, I’d like to thank Paul Ip and KCMG’s Head of Motorsport Ryuji Doi for their continued trust and support. I’m looking forward now to the race this weekend and aiming to deliver positive results for the team.”
