Omar Ismail will return to the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship at Donington Park this weekend (10/11 September) as he rejoins former team Chris Dittmann Racing for the season finale. The 17-year-old raced for the Gloucestershire-based outfit in the 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Championship, impressing immediately and claiming his first victory in single-seaters with a dominant lights-to-flag win at Snetterton in just his fourth race in the category. He added a runner-up finish on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch en route to finishing ninth in the overall standings.Ismail will join Jeremy Wahome and Krishnaraaj Mahadik in driving for Chris Dittmann Racing in Leicestershire this weekend.

Prior to his graduation to car racing, Ismail competed in karts and achieved strong results at both regional and national level. He primarily raced in the Rotax category, finishing in the top-three in both the Shenington and Whilton Mill Junior Max Championships. In 2013, he took part in the Rotax Euro Challenge and also participated in selected rounds of the Super One Championship.

Ismail said: “It's been a tough year for me all round but I am glad I have this opportunity to get back in the seat one more time before the end of 2016. I have a really good working relationship with Chris Dittmann Racing from a great season last year and hopefully we will be able to pull out some good results like before.”

Chris Dittmann, Team Principal of Chris Dittmann Racing, added: “It’s great to welcome Omar back to the team after our successful relationship last year. It’s a shame Quinlan is unable to race especially after his recent form, however we’re really excited to see what Omar can achieve. It’s going to be tough for him after five months out of the car, however we’re confident we’ll get him up to speed quickly. Both Krishnaraaj and Jeremy have been driving well recently so I’m hoping all three drivers can push each other and we can have a strong end to the season.”
