AFRICA ECO RACE update

Two months before the big race from Monaco to Dakar, AFRICA ECO RACE organisers are reporting a growing number of competitors. The start will be given from Principality of Monaco, once again on Quai Antoine 1er - right in front of the famous restaurant Stars’N’Bars but before that administrative checks and scrutineering will take place in Menton.

Jean Louis SCHLESSER:

"We had to find an alternative solution for administrative checks and scrutineering as the Monte Carlo Country Club, which hosted us last year, is currently being renovated, and in Monaco there is not really enough space to accommodate the AFRICA ECO RACE caravan which is growing from strength to strength .

Only minutes away from Monaco the City of Menton hosts many events throughout the year and they have agreed to accommodate us by mobilizing the various city services to fit our needs.

The administrative checks and scrutineering will take place in two football stadiums located one opposite the other, in the city center and near the sea. Once again, the participants of the AFRICA ECO RACE will benefit of a beautiful postcard view in this city where the sun apparently shines 316 days a year, with all amenities for catering and accommodation. After the traditional briefing held at Stars'N'Bars, our partner, the start ceremony will take place in Monaco on Saturday December 31st in late morning with Adriana, our embassadress who will also visit the competitors during administrative checks and scrutineering. Competitors will then depart for the port of Sète to board the ferry where they will spend New Year's Eve in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. Difficult to begin such an adventure in a better way !! “

UPCOMING SPORTING BATTLES

With about 30 represented nationalities, the AFRICA ECO RACE 2017 will pass to a new level of competition. Above all the quality of the field, both on two and on four wheels, should offer a very even and competitive race. Only twenty days are left before entries close, but already it is understood that the Norwegian Pal Anders ULLEVALSTETER, who won the last two races, will fight to keep his title as well as Kazakhstan's Kanat SHAGIROV who won last year in the Car category. KAMAZ will be back for fight in the Truck category. Sergey KUPRIANOV with his hybrid truck, will this year be joined by Andrey KARGINOV winner of the 2014 Dakar.
