Daytona Motorsport CEO Masters Race of Remembrance

Daytona Motorsport CEO Charles Graham teamed up with James Bond stunt driver Wade Eastwood in last weekend’s Race of Remembrance at Anglesey Circuit, with a determined effort netting the pair the coveted Heroes’ Cup in the charity event.Organised by the Force’s Motorsport Charity, Mission Motorsport in conjunction with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), the third annual Race of Remembrance attracted some 41 entries and followed a tried-and-tested format of running into the night on Saturday and then resuming on Sunday morning, pausing for a unique interlude with an Act of Remembrance at 11am.Graham and Eastwood qualified fifth overall in a field that included luminaries of the ilk of multiple Olympic and World Champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, sportscar star Tom Onslow-Cole and Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship battler Dan Welch. After storming into an early lead in the 1,000km endurance contest behind the wheel of their Lotus Exige run by former champions Datum Motorsport 2, the pair produced a composed performance throughout, defying gear linkage dramas in the final half-hour to lift the Heroes’ Cup laurels.“I love long-distance racing,” enthused Graham, who earlier this year finished as runner-up in Silverstone’s Birkett Six Hour Relay Race in a Daytona Radical. “I was keen to do one more this year, so when Wade suggested the Race of Remembrance, it was an easy call to make!“It was very much an 11th-hour decision, but I really enjoyed it. Datum Motorsport might be a small outfit, but everybody was just incredible – nothing at all was too much trouble.“I love Anglesey Circuit! It’s a great little track – real go-kart style and you never get any respite – and racing there in the dark, with only headlights for guidance, is nuts! I must also pay tribute to the amazing organisation by Mission Motorsport – it was an absolute pleasure to take part in an event that did so much for such a fantastic cause, so hopefully it won’t be my last appearance.”
