Daniel Lloyd joins Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing for TCR International campaign

Daniel Lloyd will join Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing for the remainder of the 2017 TCR International series, making his debut at the Salzburgring in Austria, this coming weekend (June 10-11).

25-year-old Lloyd re-joins the multiple-championship winning Craft-Bamboo Racing squad after last racing with them at the end of 2015, where he was instrumental in their GT Asia Series drivers’ championship win.

Lloyd replaces Hugo Valente in the Lukoil Craft-Bamboo line-up after the Frenchman announced his retirement from professional motorsport. Having confirmed his departure from the MG Racing British Touring Car Championship squad earlier this week, Lloyd was approached as the ideal replacement for Valente thanks to his previous experience with the team and front-wheel drive touring cars.

Lloyd’s familiarity with the Lukoil Craft-Bamboo crew and engineers should make for a smooth transition, with the Yorkshireman stepping in at a crucial stage of the series for the remaining six meetings of the ten-event campaign.

“I am really excited to be joining Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing!” said Lloyd. “The TCR International Series is something that I have wanted to be part of for a while now. It was really ideal to join Lukoil Craft-Bamboo Racing because of my previous relationship with Craft-Bamboo back in 2015. I have got some really good memories of helping to win the GT Asia Series drivers’ championship with Darryl O’Young and I now have a lot of experience in front-wheel drive cars.

“Although TCR is a little different, I am very happy to be back in the same team and I am really looking forward to getting to Austria to begin my TCR International Series campaign.”

Richard Coleman, CEO of Craft-Bamboo Racing added; “We are disappointed to be losing Hugo at this stage of the season, as he is one of the most naturally talented drivers I have ever had the pleasure of working with, but I am delighted that Daniel Lloyd was on the market at the right time and I am sure that he will be able to win races this year and help the team achieve their goals.”

Rounds 10 and 11 of the TCR International Series take place at Austria’s, Salzburgring on June 10-11. The weekend’s action gets underway at 10.00 local time on Saturday 10th June with FP1, with FP2 following at 12.00. Saturday afternoon features both qualifying sessions at 15.20-15.20 and 15.25 – 15.35 before two, 15 lap races on Sunday 11th June scheduled at 13.05 and 14.34 local time.
