BRDC Rising Star Ben Hingeley Joins Hitech GP for FIA F3

 

European FIA F3 race-winning team Hitech GP are delighted to welcome Ben Hingeley to the fold, the talented young British driver and 2017 Welsh Racing Driver of the Year will take to the wheel of the FIA Formula 3 car for the first time next year, in hopes of a strong 2018 campaign.

Ben joins the Silverstone-based outfit, fresh from a tenacious 2017 BRDC British F3 campaign, in which he engaged in some thrilling battles claiming 3rd place in the standings with 4 wins and 7 podiums.

Starting out in the grass-roots of motorsport, Ben enjoyed great success in his formative racing years, crowned 2011 Welsh Minimax Champion Ben went on to take the 2013 British Junior Rotax Open Karting title and Super One Junior Rotax vice-championship. His impressive on-track record saw him recognised as one of Britain’s hottest young talents, inducted as one of the prestigious BRDC Rising Star members.

Graduating to cars in 2015, Ben showcased his talent to be crowned 2015 Formula Jedi Champion in only his first season behind the wheel of a single-seater, taking an impressive 8 wins, 3 podium finishes and 3 lap records. Debuting in BRDC British F3 in 2016, the talented young racer claimed 2 podiums and one pole position. His momentum continuing into 2017 where he claimed 3rd place in the championship.

Gaining more valuable experience in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2017, Ben impressed with his raw speed and ability during winter testing with Hitech GP, which sees him step up to the highly-competitive European FIA Formula 3 Championship In 2018.

Speaking of the signing of Ben Hingeley to Hitech GP, Team Principal Oliver Oakes said:


“We are really happy to welcome Ben to the Team, he was a worthy adversary with Enaam in British F3 this year. His recent GP3 tests in Abu Dhabi and the recent tests with us in F3 were very impressive and made us confident in him making the step up to FIA F3 for 2018”

Ben added:

I’m really excited to racing with Hitech GP this year in FIA F3. Hitech are an exceptionally professional team in the way they work and operate and I’m really delighted to be working with them this year!

The 2018 FIA F3 European Championship gets underway on the 12th May in Pau, France.
