Supercar Saturday at the Brooklands Museum

Supercar Saturday at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey, just within the M25, is like no other gathering thanks to the fabulous backdrop, the opportunity for selected cars to take part in track demos and runs up the Brooklands Test Hill – and the sheer variety of modern and historic machinery that turns up.

“We’re always surprised by the unexpected gems that turn out for our annual Supercar days,” says event organiser Phil Ward. “In recent years we’ve welcomed everything from modern Ferraris, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Lamborghinis, BMWs and Bugattis, to E-type Jags and Porsche 911s of all eras, along with AC Cobra, Lotus Elan, American muscle cars, a DeLorean – and ‘Twiggy’s’ Miura. And every year brings something new.”

Enthusiasts who bring their supercars to the event, this year on Saturday 28 July, are not only able to display their cars, but are also invited to apply to take part in the track demonstrations of selected cars on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit and individual runs up the challenging Test Hill (applications must be made in advance). This allows the spectating public the rare chance to see these high-performance cars in action, as well as inspecting them at close quarters in the dramatic setting of the historic Brooklands venue – which has benefitted from recent redevelopment, including an extensive new display area on the restored start-finish straight leading to the original banked track.

The event has proved extremely popular with car clubs, which are allocated dedicated areas for members to display their cars. Owners of supercars selected to take part in the live action demonstrations also receive a complimentary priority entry pass – little wonder, then, that the event is so popular with car clubs and their members.
