The Mk 2 Jaguar, introduced in 1959, was a fast and capable saloon. It came with a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre XK engine. The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors and the 2.4 Litre with twin Solex carburettors. Compared to the Mark 1, the appearance of the car was transformed by an increase of 18% in cabin glass area. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the enlarged side windows. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside a new heating system was fitted with ducted air to the rear compartment. There was an improved instrument layout that became standard for all Jaguar cars until the XJ Series II. From its introduction the Jaguar MkII developed a strong following in many walks of life. With wonderful styling and a race-bred engine and four-wheel disc brakes, the ability to carry five passengers at great speed, the car proved to be a great success.

1962 Jaguar MK2 3.8 Manual with working overdrive in A1/Concourse condition. The restoration was completed in March 2018.

The vendor describes this car as a pristine 3.8 Jaguar MKII which has had a total 'nut and bolt' restoration at no expense spared. The restoration included a bare-metal re-spray in its original Opalescent blue (all corrosive panels cut out and welded), complete renewal of the underneath (shock absorbers, suspension, springs, new up-graded Cooper craft callipers), new tyres and new chrome wire wheels, complete engine rebuild, rebuilt  gear box (making it smooth and tight in the shift), completely new wiring loom, the entire interior renewed and restored to resemble a brand new car.

The car comes with complete photographic evidence of the various stages and progressions of works undertaken and numerous documented history. The comprehensive list of parts restored and renewed are too exhaustive to list but please refer to the pictures which illustrates, that this is a one-off unique car. It is ready to be driven and enjoyed for many years to come with no expenditure required, and which can only appreciate in value. (Insurance value 65K).
