Ravishankar remains with reigning champions Double R for British F3

Reigning BRDC British F3 Champions Double R Racing have confirmed that race winner Pavan Ravishankar will remain with the team for the coming season.

The 19-year-old Singaporean put together a strong maiden season in Formula 3 where he secured two podiums – including an excellent victory at Silverstone – on his way to a top 15 series finish.

Now, with a full year of F3 experience under his belt and knowledge of all of the tracks on the 2019 calendar, Ravishankar will go into his sophomore year in the championship as a driver with a real opportunity to mount a consistent front-running challenge.

After making his British F3 debut with Double R during the 2017 finale at Donington Park, where he achieved a pair of top 10 finishes and a further top 12 result from the event’s three races, the Singaporean went on to agree a deal for the full 2018 championship.

Before moving into F3, Ravishankar became a multiple podium finisher in Asian Formula Renault where he finished fourth overall in 2016 and he also gained additional single-seater experience in the Indian-based MRF Challenge Formula 2000. Prior to this, he established a successful career in karting and claimed the 2015 Singapore Rotax Open Championship title.

Already in 2019, Ravishankar has been gaining additional experience in the F3 Asian Winter Series where he ended the championship fifth in the standings and claimed a memorable podium during the first round at Chang International Circuit in Thailand.

“We really are very pleased indeed to have re-signed Pavan for British F3 this year, it’s fantastic to keep that continuity with a driver for a second season,” said Double R Racing’s Team Principal Anthony Hieatt. “He had a strong first year in the championship, with some real highlights, and there’s plenty to build on during testing ahead of the new season.

“Pavan’s first win at Silverstone GP was a fantastic result, he did a great job and showed his true potential. Everyone at Double R is looking forward to continuing the great relationship we’ve formed with Pavan since the end of 2017, we’re sure he can have a very strong season.”

Looking ahead to the new British F3 season, Ravishankar commented: “I am absolutely delighted to return to BRDC British F3 with the reigning champions Double R Racing. Throughout 2018 I learnt a tremendous amount from this great team and I’m looking forward to what looks like a very exciting 2019 season for us.”
