Rafael Villanueva Switches To MP Motorsport For Second Season In F4

Spanish driver Rafael Villanueva will switch to MP Motorsport for his second attack on the Spanish F4 championship this season, it is announced today.

Villanueva finished sixth in the Spanish F4 Championship last year, with a best result of fourth at Jérez, before taking part in the 2019 UAE F4 Winter Series at the Dubai and Yas Marina tracks. The Spaniard grabbed two front-row starting positions on his way to a consistent run of points finishes to take eighth in the final standings.

The Madrid youngster now moves to MP Motorsport for a second attempt at the Spanish F4 Championship, joining teenagers Nicolas Baert, Glenn van Berlo and Tijmen van der Helm who were previously announced as MP’s F4 drivers simultaneously.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to join MP Motorsport”, said Villanueva, “Their F4 pedigree is second to none, and I’m sure they will allow me to fight at the front. I can’t wait to go out there and show what I’m capable of.”

“We are pleased to welcome Rafa to our team”, said Sander Dorsman, MP’s team manager, “He was among our strongest opponents last year, and it will be good to have him on our side this year. I’m confident that we can do well together in 2019.”
