Desert Baja Israel

DESERT BAJA ISRAEL, the 1st race of the “EAST EUROPEAN TOUT TERRAIN SERIES”  for 2019, takes place in one of the most challenging and yet spectacular deserts, the Israeli desert. The event’s Organizing Committee works round-the-clock to ensure participants, pilots and viewers alike experience and get the most out of this grand tournament.

As indicated by the event’s name, this rally is a Baja type contest, governed by the FIA and Israel Motorsport Association (ILAKA) rules and regulations, with a total length of approximately 900 km, out of which 650 km are Special Stages monitored, but not closed, for other traffic.

Four (4) days of fierce competition, with Special stages on sand and gravel in the South part of Israel, make this sport event one of a kind. Be'er Sheva is the starting point and in Eilat is where the pilots will cross the finish line.

On March 28th, the first day of the event Administrative Checks and Scrutineering took place in preparation of a spectacular Prologue Stage that followed. Teams had the chance to test their vehicles and proceed with the necessary adjustments before LEG 1 from Be’er Sheva to Ashalim takes place.

Team Sparco Israel achieved the best performance completing their lap, around the demanding mixed terrain of gravel and tarmac, in 3 minutes and 33 seconds.
