The Roger Albert Clark Rally is set to have the biggest entry of any UK rally this year after a capacity entry of 165 plus nine reserves was confirmed when the second phase of the entry process closed last night.

A field of 165 cars will start the five-day, 32-stage, 300-stage mile challenge, which will run from 21 to 25 November 2019. It is a record entry for the rally, which first ran in 2004, and is expected to be easily the biggest UK stage rally entry of the year.

A total of 174 crews have now confirmed their entries and paid a significant portion of the entry fee, so nine of those crews are now waiting on the reserve list. Since the initial £300 entry fee deposit was announced last autumn, an incredible total of 195 deposits were taken, though 21 of those deposits have now been withdrawn. However, new entry enquiries are still being taken and the reserve list could still grow.

The next step in the entry process is for the full entry fee to be paid by 31 October. Those crews who have paid the entry fee in full by 30 June will go into a draw and the winner will receive a 50% refund, worth £1750.

Rally manager Colin Heppenstall, from the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club, said: “The response has completely blown us away. By the end of the 2017 event we knew that the format of a longer, tougher event was what people wanted so we were hopeful for this year. But we never anticipated this level of entry. We’re adjusting the timings and service locations a little to accommodate the size of the entry and event planning is very well advanced.”
