Misfortune hits but Larbre Competition soldiers on in 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours

During the night of the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours, Larbre Competition has been unfortunate but its Ligier JS P217 is still running in 20th overall.
Erwin Creed took to the track after midnight struck for his second triple stint of the race and continued to show Larbre’s solid race pace, despite encountering heavy traffic, until shortly before the halfway mark at 03:00.

Issues began to strike when Nicholas Boulle took over as the engine cover came off the car halfway through his run, which also damaged the rear wing centre strut and forced the American into the pits for repairs.

After handing over to Romano Ricci, the car had its third puncture of the race and a 30-second stop/go penalty was given for speeding under full course yellow conditions. The Frenchman was not discouraged though, and continued to push.

Creed got back in the car as the sun rose over the La Sarthe circuit, bringing the car up to 19th overall before stopping to hand over to Boulle again with Larbre running 20th.

Erwin Creed: “I had an okay stint during the night. We were on used tyres and I just kept hitting traffic, so the lap times weren’t amazing. But we’re still running and in the game. A lot can happen before the chequered flag.”

Nicholas Boulle: “I was running well until the engine cover came off, which is a shame because we lost time while we were in a good position. The team did a great job to fix it and get me back out on track. The important thing is that we’re still going as we head into a really crucial part of the race where errors start to show.”

Romano Ricci: “We had a difficult stint, I’m sorry for the penalty, and the puncture did not help but we’re persevering, which is the only thing you can do at Le Mans. You cannot afford to give anything less than 100% and we won’t stop until it’s over. We will do our best to meet the chequered flag again in the best position possible.”
