KC Motorgroup a wildcard Suzuka WTCR entry with Jim Ka To

KC Motorgroup will make a wildcard appearance at the Suzuka round of the 2019 WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup with Jim Ka To on board the Honda Civic Type R TCR.

Having acquainted himself with the new generation Civic Type R TCR as a part of KCMG’s Super Taikyu line-up, helping the team score a podium on its series debut at Suzuka, 2008 Formula Renault Asian Challenge champion Ka To will represent the team in the Race of Japan.

Ka To has a long-standing history with KC Motorgroup, having been part of the team’s 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship LMP2 line-up for the Silverstone opener.

Honda customer teams have won six races so far during the 2019 campaign, including KCMG’s season-long entry with Tiago Monteiro at the Race of Portugal after team-mate Attila Tassi took pole position.

After winning last year’s TCR Europe teams’ title with Honda, the Hong Kong squad has shown strong pace at the Dubai 24 Hours and won races in the new TCR Japan Touring Car Series, as well as podiums in Japanese endurance series Super Taikyu.

The Race of Japan will take place on October 26-27, alongside Super Formula and TCR Japan which KCMG will also be competing in.

Jim Ka To: “I’m very happy to have a chance to represent KC Motorgroup and to compete in the WTCR Race of Japan. I will use my experience of the car to try to get good results for the team.”

Paul Ip, KC Motorgroup founder: “We’re excited to see Jim Ka To behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R TCR again for his World Touring Car Cup debut. We have had a very strong season with the car in Super Taikyu and TCR Japan, so we look forward to seeing how Jim does at Suzuka.”
