RallyX Nordic postpones Höljes curtain-raiser

Delayed start to 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 pandemic
Organisers working to secure earliest possible rescheduled date
Deadline for full-season entry applications extended to 7 May

RallyX Nordic presented by Cooper Tires series organisers regret to announce that the opening two rounds of the 2020 campaign at Höljes have had to be postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Following last year’s hugely successful double-header initiative, the plan had been to again start the season with two full days of high-octane action at arguably the most iconic rallycross track in the world.

Unfortunately, the developing COVID-19 scenario and associated government guidelines now make it impossible for Höljes to host the event on its scheduled date of 23/24 May. Series organisers are working closely with both circuit operator Finnskoga Motorklubb and the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (SBF) to find an alternative date as soon as possible.

“We are obviously sad to have to postpone the Höljes event, but circumstances are out of our hands in the current global climate,” said Jan-Erik Steen, CEO of RallyX Nordic promoter, RX Promotion. “The health of all of our competitors, officials and spectators must come first at all times, and we need to wait until we are told it is safe to resume racing before returning to the track.

“The timing of that return will naturally depend on various factors in various different countries, but we clearly appreciate that our fans are hungry for competition so we are looking to reschedule the event as early as possible and will communicate further news once it is available. Höljes is an iconic circuit, and we look forward to opening the gates to welcome the whole RallyX Nordic family just as soon as it is safe to do so.”

The postponement of the Höljes event means the 2020 RallyX Nordic campaign is now due to begin with a Danish double-header at Nysum on 6/7 June, but that date similarly remains subject to change depending on how the COVID-19 situation evolves.

The deadline to submit full-season entry applications has been extended to Thursday, 7 May.
