Porsche Motorsport GB welcomes revised provisional BTCC calendar for 2020
Following the announcement of a revised provisional calendar for the 2020 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) from series organiser TOCA, Porsche Motorsport GB has begun the process of preparing a revised provisional 2020 calendar for both Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB championships.
The fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, has occupied a high-profile position as part of Great Britain’s premier motorsport package since 2003 and, with the addition of Porsche Sprint Challenge GB for 2020, Porsche Motorsport GB will be present at all nine events proposed under the calendar with each screened live and exclusively on the ITV network.
Starting in August at Donington Park and finishing with a traditional season finalé at Brands Hatch in November, the proposed calendar remains provisional until the appropriate government directives and approvals regarding the resumption of sporting activities are received. Should sporting events be unable to resume at that time, the calendar will be amended accordingly and Porsche Motorsport GB will continue support further developments.

Following the postponement of motor racing activities around the world, Porsche Motorsport has been involved with a packed Esports programme. Porsche racers past and present, along with factory drivers and sim experts, have been competing in championships such as the Formula E Race At Home Challenge. In parallel, Porsche has developed several official events such as the Porsche Community Legends challenge (open to all on the free-to-play RaceRoom platform) and Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Virtual Edition (open to registered Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup teams and drivers plus VIP guests on the iRacing platform).
Porsche factory driver and Carrera Cup GB team owner Nick Tandy is taking on the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Virtual Edition as a guest entry and stepped onto the virtual podium in round three at Silverstone, the circuit at which the 2015 Le Mans winner took his first Supercup victory in 2010. The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, for the top 40 qualifying drivers following a two-and-a-half month qualification process, starts its second season on 2 May 2020 at virtual Circuit Zandvoort and includes Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen as one of the qualifiers.
